Although there are no specific requirements to declare a major in the Department of Physics & Astronomy, past experience shows that students with a math score of 25 or higher on the ACT exam (or 550 or higher for the SAT exam) are likely to be successful in completing a Bachelor degree.
Majors can sign up for the following degrees: These programs can also be done with Honors. Degrees are also given in the Honors Tutorial College for the physics program. Some Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Physics, taken in high school, will count as credit for the General Physics courses. The same is true for AP courses in Mathematics. For students with AP credit, it is likely that fewer classes will be necessary at Ohio University to complete a degree. For students transferring from other colleges or universities, transfer credit is determined at the time of admission. Many courses are similar at most colleges in the freshman and sophomore years, and so many courses will likely be approved for transfer credit. For more information, contact the Admissions Office. The College of Arts and Science requires a foreign language for all Bachelor of Science degrees. This requirement will be satisfied if you had four years of a foreign language in high school, or partially fulfilled if you had two years of a foreign language in high school. Otherwise, two years of a foreign language in college is required. |
