"Probing the electronic and spin properties of single semiconductor nanostructures: From dots to wires"

With many different types of semiconductor nanostructures, random variations in structural properties often completely mask their important physical properties. It is critical to use high-resolution microscopy to image single nanostructures in order to visualize their electronic and spin properties. In this talk, I will discuss recent work we have accomplished on (1) spin-dynamics in magnetically doped quantum dots, and (2) the properties of surface defects in semiconductor nanowires.
