Description and Implementation

CAPA Characteristics

Individualized printed problem assignments for each student.
Students work problems in conventional way.
Numerical or Multiple Choice.
Students Login to CAPA servers from any terminal on the University network. They can read the text of each question and enter their answer.
Immediate response as to whether their answer is correct.
If incorrect, a hint is avaliable, and students can redo the problem and try again without limit until a certain day and time.

Trials: Physics 201 and 202 in Fall and Winter quarters of 1994-95.
Implementation for 1996-97: Physics 201, 202, 203 (about 700 students); Physics 251, 252, 253 (about 500 students); Chemistry 151, 152, 153 (about 1,200 students)
